Gwyneth Paltrow advocates ecstasy drug MDMA for use in couples' therapy

Gwyneth Paltrow is advocating ecstasy drug MDMA in couples’ therapy.

Well, it’s one way of getting warring partners to hug it all out.

The actress - who consciously uncoupled from Coldplay's Chris Martin - says she is "really looking forward to it being legal" so she can have MDMA therapy sessions in the US, including couple's therapy.

“I’ve had friends who have gone through the process and found it life changing,” she says.

“The capacity for healing is going to be a real gift to the world. I’m really looking forward to it being legal, because I want to try this out.”

Last year, the wellbeing enthusiast revealed she and husband Brad Falchuk had a “productive” session together on the drug, which is the main component in ecstasy tablets, and described having “a very, very emotional experience”.

This week, for her Goop brand, she interviewed academic Rick Doblin, who is trialling the drug for medicinal use in the US, including for PTSD.

Gwyneth cheered Rick’s admission that he has “wonderful” annual MDMA therapy sessions with his wife, lasting two days.

“I like your style,” laughed Gwyn.
