Gwyneth Paltrow has distanced herself from the phrase “conscious uncoupling” - saying she did not write the now-infamous headline announcing her separation from former husband Chris Martin.
Ms Paltrow blamed Elise Loehnen, the editor of her lifestyle website Goop, for using the term in a headline without warning her in advance.
“When I announced that I was separating on the website [Miss Loehnen] titled the piece ‘Conscious Uncoupling,’ and I had no idea,” the 42-year-old Oscar winning actress told Fast Company magazine.
However, it was pointed out yesterday that Paltrow did use a version of the phrase in the text of the March 2014 blogpost, which appeared jointly under her and Martin’s names.
“We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner,” they wrote.
The Conscious Uncoupling headline sparked widespread derision, particularly in Britain, with Paltrow ridiculed for using a term interpreted as American psychobabble.
