Gwyneth Paltrow broke her own 'rule' about the Met Gala - again

Hollywood's hottest stars descended on New York on Monday evening for the annual Costume Institute Gala, or Met Gala as it's more commonly known.

Among the actors, musicians, fashion designers and artists were the likes of Zendaya, Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, Kim Kardashian and Cardi B.

And while many of the guests were people we expected to see strutting down the pink carpet - there were a few surprises.

The most interesting appearance at the event perhaps came from Gwyneth Paltrow, who seems to have broken her own Met Gala 'rule' once again.

The actress has previously said she'd never attend the event again (Getty Images)

Back in 2013, Gwyneth, vowed to never attend the Met Gala again.

In an interview with USA Today after the event that year, the Shakespeare In Love star said: "I'm never going again. It was so un-fun. It was boiling. It was too crowded. I did not enjoy it at all."

Despite this, the 46-year-old broke her own rule on May 6 by accepting her invite to the lavish event, which centered around the theme of 'Camp'.

The actress and founder of Goop looked sweet as she arrived at the Gala without her new husband, Brad Falchuk, in a ruffled yellow maxi dress.

And this isn't the first time Gwyneth has had to eat her words.

She also previously went to the Met Gala in 2017, wearing a hot pink Valentino gown as her pal Beyonce co-chaired the fundraiser.

Similarly, in 2016, Girls actress Lena Dunham hit the headlines when she slammed the event and lamented on the miserable time she had there.

She is quoted as saying: "You and I were literally sitting across from each other at the Met Ball, and it was like a crazy countdown to when we could escape."

Despite this, the 32-year-old rocked up to this year's gala in a rather unique outfit which featured latex gloves and a pink dress with the word 'rubberist' on it.
