Gwent Police slap dispersal notice on one part of Caerphilly borough after anti-social behaviour problems

A dispersal notice has been put in place in an area of Caerphilly borough by Gwent police.

It will affect Newbridge and the surrounding areas from Friday, April 16 at 4pm to Sunday, April 18 at 2.30am.

The notice gives police officers special powers to exclude people from the area within that time period.

It comes after an appeal from the force urging people to come forward with information following anti-social behaviour in Newbridge.

Officers received a number of calls on Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11 reporting a group of youths throwing stones at cars and houses from Pont Calzaghe Bridge.

Damage was caused to two house windows and two cars. No one sustained any injuries.

Speaking about the incident, inspector Andrew Boucher said:“Anti-social behaviour negatively impacts upon the quality of life for residents and it will not be tolerated within our communities. Anyone caught committing an act of anti-social behaviour will be prosecuted.

“I would urge anyone with any information relating to the identity of those responsible for the anti-social behaviour or anyone who has any CCTV footage to call us on 101 or contact local neighbourhood officers.”
