Guy on the street

News blog would like to applaud the taxi driver who gamely tried to answer questions live on BBC News 24 last week after being confused with an IT expert Guy Kewney.

The cabbie, who has not been named, responded for several minutes to questions from the correspondent Karen Bowerman about Apple Computer's high court victory with the record label Apple Corps over naming rights.

It was much easier to download music from the internet these days, the cabbie pluckily opined.

On his blog, Mr Kewney says an embarrassed BBC News 24 has removed the clip, which he calls "classic ... priceless", from its website, but he nonetheless finds it online.

You can watch the clip at youtube.com - as more than 800 people had done at the time of writing.

We think the cabbie did pretty well. He is by no means the worst talking head BBC News 24 has interviewed. If there are any producers out there who need an opinion about, say, UK shares falling by 2%, I am available. I know next to nothing about the subject but am willing to give it a go.
