Guy Melamed reflected on Saturday afternoon’s “amazing” comeback victory scenes with a beaming smile.
But the Israeli striker again showed off his determined nature by revealing that he was not content with just one goal.
Saints trailed by two heading into the second half but Melamed’s close-range finish shortly after the restart kicked-off the Perth revival against Kilmarnock.
Murray Davidson levelled the Ayrshire tussle before Ali McCann whistled a low drive into the bottom corner for a stunning 3-2 triumph.
Melamed was pleased with his contribution but said: “I always want more. I think I had some okay chances in the game and was close.
“My ambition is always to score more. I really want a game where I score two or three. One is not enough for me. I want more and more.”
Saints’ dressing room remained full of positivity at half-time, despite having a mountain to climb. The belief was still very much there.
“We always believed in ourselves, even at half-time,” Melamed told the Perthshire Advertiser.
“We talked in the dressing room that we could do it. We felt pretty good in the first half and were a bit unlucky.
“We needed to keep pushing and playing how we were. I’m happy. I’m happy that everybody is happy.
“We got an amazing boost after my goal. I can tell you, after the first goal, I had a feeling in my heart that we would make the comeback.
“Location is very important for a striker. I’m pleased that I was involved in the second and third goals.
“It’s amazing. I just feel bad that we didn’t have the fans. It would have been a big celebration if they were with us.”
It was a special feeling for Melamed when he watched midfield talent McCann laser in the third from distance.
“Wow,” he smiled. “I think it will be one of the best moments of Ali’s career because it’s a very exciting moment.
“I’m happy for him. He is a young player and I think he can go to the biggest stage in football.”
Melamed is focused on continuing his form to remain in the manager’s plans ahead of the Betfred Cup final with Livingston on February 28.
“My best memory in my career was a cup final that I played in Israel,” he said. “I managed to score an amazing goal.
“Of course I want to play in the cup final.”
For now, Saints, who are unbeaten in seven games, turn their attention to a tough Wednesday evening trip to Ibrox.
Melamed said: “It’s always exciting to play against the two big teams. Again, unfortunately without the fans.
“But we’re looking forward to the game and again we will believe in ourselves. The win against Kilmarnock gives us confidence.
“Now I hope we can make a good result on Wednesday.”
