Guy Martin Cookstown 100 return as bike star confirms entry for 2019

Motorcycle star and TV personality Guy Martin has confirmed his entry for next month's KDM Hire Cookstown 100.

The 37-year-old withdrew from last year's event, stating gearbox problems with his home built BSA Rocket Three machine.

Martin was heavily criticised on social media after pulling out days before the 2018 races, but the 11-time Ulster Grand Prix winner promised to return in 2019 - and he appears to have kept his word.

It is an exciting development for fans, and for Martin who took a break from riding after a crash at the Dundrod 150 in 2015.

He came back in 2017 but it turned into a disastrous return with Honda Racing team which included a heavy spill at the Isle of Man TT.

It was later reported that Martin had retired from the sport, but he later refuted the claim on his website, saying: "I've not given up on racing or road racing, there's no unfinished business and I want to race classics and oddball stuff."

Martin has built his own BSA Rocket 3 and has signalled his intentions of returning to the Cookstown 100 to contest the Classic races.

He is no stranger to the Cookstown 100, having won both Superbike races on the Tyco BMW in 2015.
