GUWAHATI: The police have nabbed a shooter involved in the killing of businessman Avdhesh Yadav from Begusarai in Bihar.
The accused, Pankaj Yadav, is being brought here. Police sources said one Dablu Yadav plotted the murder and the prime accused is likely to be hiding in Nepal. Yadav was shot from close range by two bike-borne miscreants in front of his residence in the Chatribari locality here in the city on the night of February 21.
“Our police team is coming to Guwahati with the accused Pankaj Yadav after taking transit remand. He was apprehended in the Barauni police station area in Begusarai,” said Guwahati commissioner of police, Harmeet Singh. He added that Pankaj, nabbed on Monday, was one of the shooters. Singh said the other accused may have crossed the Bihar border. “We will nab all the accused. If required, we will take the help of Nepal Police. Once we get their location, they will be apprehended,” Singh added.
In another breakthrough, police sources said the Guwahati city police have apprehended one prime accused involved in the gang rape of a 16-year-old girl. She was allegedly gang-raped and filmed by five youths from the Garigaon area of western Guwahati on February 19.
