'Gutted, will always love you!' - Watford fans split as Javi Gracia departs Vicarage Road

Javi Gracia's time as Watford head coach has come to an end after the club announced his departure on Saturday evening.

The Hornets have not enjoyed a good start to the Premier League season as they currently sit bottom of the table after only four games.

Starting off the new campaign with a shock 3-0 home defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion, the Hornets have also lost games against Everton and West Ham, before registering their first point of the season last Saturday following a 1-1 draw at Newcastle United.

Although the Spaniard did lead the club to the FA Cup final back in May, the team didn't enjoy a good end to the 2018/19 campaign and their three defeats in the opening month of the new season meant that it was six on the bounce.

The club issued a statement on Saturday evening at 5.30pm and confirmed that his backroom team will also depart Vicarage Road.

Chairman & CEO Scott Duxbury said: “Javi has represented Watford with great dignity and will always be deserving of our fullest respect for his achievements.”
