Gutted taxi driver misses out on lottery jackpot by one number - for second time

A gutted taxi driver has missed out on a huge lottery win by just one number - for the second time.

Gregor Ross, 48, says he's the second unluckiest man in Scotland after twice missing out on massive jackpots.

His claim comes after Aidan Murray, 24, revealed this week that he had missed out on winning £156million on the EuroMillions - also by just one number.

Gregor, from Wormit, near Dundee, said he was "gutted" for the engineer and said he too has been close to netting life-changing sums.

He missed out on £10,000 a month for 30 years in the Lotto’s Set For Life - nearly a year after he lost out on winning the £500,000 Thunderball jackpot.

He told the Daily Record : "On November 16 last year, I picked the numbers 6, 17, 21, 38 and 39 and life ball number 6.

"If I’d picked 13 instead of 6, I’d have won £10,000 a month for 30 years.

"The November before that I was in the taxi and a customer got in.

"I told him I was just picking my lottery numbers and he told me to put on 18, 19, 22, 26, 28 and Thunderball 1.

"If I’d picked 38 instead of 26, I’d have won the jackpot."

Aidan, from Clydebank, went viral after posting a picture of his EuroMillions ticket on Twitter.

He won £666.50 - but was only one number away from being a multi-millionaire.

Gregor added: "When I read about him I thought I must be the second unluckiest man in Scotland.

"Even though I’ve missed out twice, I’m always winning wee amounts of cash so I’m going to keep playing.”

Single Gregor printed out copies of his nearly-winning tickets and stuck them in his taxi.

He said: "It’s a good talking point and reminds me what might have been.

"I might have missed out on winning the lottery twice but there’s loads of people a lot worse off than me, so I’m grateful for everything I’ve got."
