Gutted remains of former Liverpool pub after wall collapsed

The abandoned interior of a derelict pub now faces onto a busy road following its partial collapse yesterday.

The external wall of the upper two floors of the old Parrot Pub, which stands on the corner Scotland Road and Hopwood Street in Vauxhall, collapsed into rubble at around 1am on Sunday, April 16.

Scotland Road was closed northbound as demolition workers from Liverpool City Council moved onto the scene yesterday to secure the building and remove the piles of debris caused by the collapse.

The Parrot was once one of many pubs which thrived on Scotland Road. However, the building has stood derelict for more than a decade - with one local saying it has been "falling down for years".

On The ECHO's Facebook page, James Welsh said: "Sadly it has been like that for years. It should have been pulled down. No doubt a nice block of flats will be in it place."

Neil Kearns said: "Can believe it’s still been there for the last 20 years."
