'Gutted!' - Ian Wright and Roy Keane disagree on Patrick Bamford England display

ITV pundits Ian Wright and Roy Keane have delivered their verdicts on the display of Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford in England's 4-0 World Cup qualifying win over Andorra.

The 28-year-old endured a frustrating 62 minutes on his England debut, failing to notch before being substituted by Harry Kane.

He was starved of service for much of the game but in traditional Bamford fashion, persevered and continued making runs as he hunted for his first goal on the senior international stage.

Wright said he was 'gutted' for Bamford, whilst conceding he had played in games himself when opportunities to score just would not arrive.

Speaking on ITV, he said: "I would [feel aggrieved], he looks pretty happy, not sure what else you want him to do but clap [for Kane’s goal] but I played in those games where you're running, you’re looking for chances but they just don’t come.

"In the end you get taken off and against Andorra, I was gutted for him, disappointed for him, because as it went on he would’ve got something but you know, Gareth made the substitution."

Former Manchester United midfielder Keane was with Wright in the studio and claimed Bamford's frustration is part of being a striker, although did insist the Leeds man will bounce back from the frustration.

Speaking on ITV, Keane said: "That’s the life of a striker. He had one or two chances at the start of second half but Gareth is not just going to judge him on today, when you're a striker playing Andorra you think you’re going to get chances and he maybe didn’t get as many as he thought but that’s the life of the striker, he’ll bounce back no problem."

England face Poland in a World Cup qualifier on Wednesday before Bamford and Kalvin Phillips return to West Yorkshire to prepare for the meeting between Leeds and Liverpool next Sunday.
