Gutted Edinburgh Deliveroo worker's bike stolen while he was out on a job

An Edinburgh Deliveroo worker has launched an emotional plea for help after his only mode of transport was stolen.

Heriot Watt student Antonio Tabares, only had the bike for three days before it was taken from outside of the University of Edinburgh.

The bike, which is worth £400 and was shipped all the way from China to his home in Edinburgh, is Antonio's only source of income, as he is a delivery driver for Deliveroo.

Antonio, who is a psychology student, said: "This bike was a present from my in-laws, and also was funded by money that me and my wife had saved for me to clear some debts I had.

"The delivery job, and the bike, were part of a plan I had to pay off debts of living in Edinburgh, but now I no longer have my bike, I don't have any source of income to keep myself going."

The bike is the OMECI 300W 48V Lithium Battery Folding Electric Bike Q5 model, and is £400 to buy from the Omeci website.

It also cost Antonio an extra £380 to ship the bike from China to Scotland, which meant shipping costs were almost as much as the bike itself.

Antonio is appealing for help to retrieve his bike, and is offering a money reward in return. (Submitted)

Antonio has offered a £100 reward to anyone who can help him retrieve his bike, or report sightings of it to the police.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report that a bike had been stolen from Laurieton Place, Edinburgh, on Friday, 27 August.

"A diary appointment has been made to speak to the complainer and gather more details. Anyone with information should contact us on 101 quoting incident number 3560 of 27 August."
