GURUGRAM: Tractor trolley drivers have gone on strike as sanitation contractors deployed by MCG have stopped giving salaries.
This has led to garbage piling up in ward numbers 3 and 4 of the city. The affected areas include Sector 21, Sector 22A, Sector 22B, Mullahera, and old Delhi Gurugram road.
While the councillors have raised the issue with the MCG officials, the contractors said that the payment from MCG is pending, which is why they are unable to disburse salaries.
According to the MCG officials, no payment is pending from their end.
“The tractor trolley drivers have gone on strike due to which the sanitation of my ward has gone for a toss. I have raised the issue with the officials, however, nothing has been done so far. Residents are complaining as the garbage is piling up,” said Ravinder Yadav, councillor of ward number 3.
A meeting with the tractor trolley drivers has been scheduled for Monday. “There is no payment pending from our end. The delay is because the trolley drivers were on leave due to Eid. We will take action if the drivers still don’t turn up,” said an MCG official.
