GURUGRAM: A family was attacked by an unknown person, while they on their way to court to give a testimony in a 2018 case last Thursday.
Netrapal Sharma was on his way to the local court in Rajiv Chowk, with his wife Meera and son Anil in an auto rickshaw when a two-wheeler intercepted their way.
“The unknown person threw a brick at my wife. When blood started oozing out, a crowd gathered and saved us from the attacker. Seeing my wife’s condition, we went straight to a hospital,” Sharma told the police on Monday.
Sharma and his son were also punched in the face and the attacker threatened them saying, “Today, you escaped, but next time, I will kill you.”
While the incident took place last Thursday, the family was in no condition to file a complaint as his wife was admitted to the hospital, Sharma told TOI.
“After my wife was a little better. We filed a complaint to the police. My wife Meera had received injuries on the head, for which she was admitted to hospital and underwent an operation. She has received four stitches in the forehead and three behind her ear,” said Sharma.
An FIR has been registered at Shiva Ji Nagar police station under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The case for which the family was on their way to give testimony dates back to 2018. The family had filed a case related to the kidnapping of their daughter, Sharma told TOI.
“I found my daughter after 12 years. She was abducted in 2008. At that time, I had filed a missing person’s complaint. In December 2017, my daughter got in touch with us through Facebook. We filed a kidnapping case in 2018 after our daughter told us everything. We were going to give testimony in the case,” said Sharma.
Police said they are investigating the matter.
