Gurugram logs 441 new Covid cases; positivity at 10.6%

GURUGRAM: The city reported 441 new cases of Covid on Saturday, a slight dip from the previous day’s 472 cases. The test positivity rate also dropped to 10.6%.

Gurugram currently has 2,154 active cases, out of which 52 patients are hospitalised.

According to the health department, the city has added 5,114 cases so far in August while 8,046 cases were logged in June and 5,438 in July. The health bulletin stated that 4,157 people have been tested in the last 24 hours. “We are witnessing a surge, so people should wear masks when they step out and take all precautions. The festival season is here, keeping that in mind, people should avoid large gatherings,” said Virendra Yadav, CMO, Gurugram.

The city also recorded 315 recoveries on Saturday, raising the tally of recovered people to 2.9 lakh. Gurugram vaccinated 3,431 people on Saturday of whom 2,999 people received their booster doses. Moreover, the health department won’t hold any vaccination drive on Sunday.

Haryana meanwhile logged 864 new cases of Covid. The highest number of cases were reported in Gurugram (441), followed by Faridabad (85), Yamunanagar (67) and then Panchkula (53).
