Gurugram: Feeders to get power supply from two substations

GURUGRAM: Residents can expect better power supply and less voltage fluctuations soon. This is because DHBVN has decided to connect each urban feeder with two different substations to ensure continuity of supply to housing societies across the city.

The discom has conducted an audit of urban feeders before selecting an alternative substation from which supplies can be made, officials have said.

Under the existing system, each urban feeder is connected with only one substation and in case there is a technical fault in line connecting the substation with the feeder, the supply in that particular area gets affected. In most cases, the distance between the substation and the feeder is 2-8km and it takes several hours to check the entire line to detect the fault and fix it.

PC Meena, managing director of DHBVN, said, “There is no shortage of power supply despite that certain pockets of the city face disruptions. To solve this problem, we have decided to connect each urban feeder with different two substations under the ring main system. It will improve the power supply and reduce the number of complaints.”

Under the new system, if the supply to an urban feeder gets affected from a substation for any reason, supply will automatically start from another substation and residents will not face any disruptions. In the meantime, DHBVN will be alert about the fault and the maintenance team will try to fix the issue.
