Gurugram: 29 govt sites set to give jabs today

GURUGRAM: The district on Wednesday will carry out vaccination at 29 government session sites, out of which 21 will be for Covaxin and the remaining eight for Covishield.

All sessions will provide only second doses. “We have very limited vaccines left and are focusing more on second-dose recipients. There are 12,000 Covaxin and 2,000 Covishield doses in our stock currently. We are hopeful that we will get more doses in the next few days,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurugram.

A total of 5,965 people in the 18-44 age group got inoculated on Tuesday. In the 45-plus category, 3,294 people took the shots. As many as 47 healthcare staff and 99 frontline workers also received jabs. In all, 9,405 jabs — 5,751 first doses and 3,654 second doses — were administered, including 120 at urban slums. While 1,677 people were inoculated at government session sites, 7,728 people were given shots at private vaccination centres.

9 new cases, 2 more die

Meanwhile, the city witnessed nine fresh cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday. The caseload now stands at 1,80,726, out of which 95 are active.This is the first time in more than a year that city has less than 100 active cases.
