Gurgaon police gets a green, integrated office

The Gurgaon police is all set to get a new address — a five-storey, green building —next to the current police commissioner’s office on the court road near Rajiv Chowk.

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar will inaugurate the building that will be a one-roof office for all top police officials of the district on Sunday.

The building has been constructed in line with the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) and is powered by solar-energy lamps.

Over the last few days, the police personnel have been shifting files from the old office to the new building, which has four floors and a basement.

The idea of a one-roof, centralised office is aimed at better communication and coordination among the various departments of the police.

“People who had to go to different offices for work will now have one destination. The building is set to be inaugurated on Sunday,” a police spokesperson said.

The building will house the offices of the police commissioner, joint commissioner and deputy commissioners. The building will also have a high-tech control room with a city surveillance system, and a conference room with a dining hall, lounge, labs, record rooms and cafeteria.

Equipped with biometric access control systems and with provisions for rainwater harvesting and solar water heating, the building that spread over 135,000 square feet, was constructed for Rs 27 crore.

The building is the first-of-its-kind constructed by the Haryana Police Housing Corporation (HPCB) and is differently-abled friendly.

The building plan was finalised in 2012 with the then director general of police, Haryana, RS Dalal, laying the foundation stone on June 28, 2012.

The police commissioner currently has his office at the old 5-acre camp office complex that also houses his residence.
