I run Gunsight Ridge in the 1.15pm at Kempton on Saturday and he is the horse I’m most looking forward to this weekend.
He hasn’t got a lot of miles on the clock and I was very pleased with his second to Gowel Road on his handicap debut in Newbury last month.
The form of that race has been well and truly franked with the winner going on to record a 5 1/2 L win over the same course and distance last Sunday in a very competitive handicap.
Gunsight Ridge is stepping up in trip here, but I strongly believe that the distance of 2m5f will play to his strengths.
A handicap mark of 122 doesn’t look overly burdensome either and I’m expecting a big run from the 6-year-old.
Another one of mine to note this weekend is, The Butcher Said, who runs in the Close Brothers Handicap Chase at 3.35pm, again in Kempton Park.
He is a very strong traveller who hasn’t always got home in his races so a recent wind-operation and the drying ground will be a big help to his chances.
It’s a very competitive handicap but my lad goes there with a sound each way chance.
