Guns and 'suspected cocaine' seized in armed raids

A rifle, suspected cocaine and hundreds of pounds of cash was seized by police in raids linked to gun crime.

Officers executed the firearms warrant at an address on Storrington Avenue in Croxteth on Tuesday morning, at 9.30am.

Two men, aged 29 and 22, were arrested as police entered before a significant amount of white powder was found, believed to be cocaine.

About £1,300 was found, mobile phones allegedly linked to criminality and a rifle.

While the search was being carried out, a 30-year-old woman, the homeowner, returned to the property and was also arrested.

All three were detained on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs.

They were questioned by detectives and have since been released pending further investigation.

Police have also given an update about their armed raid of a house on Gilescroft Avenue, Kirkby, on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers holding guns were seen patrolling the street, at about 4pm, when the swoop took place.

A CS and a quantity of cash as now been seized, Merseyside Police said.

No arrests were made and enquiries are ongoing.
