The gunman behind a brazen shooting murder on the NSW Mid-North Coast remains at large but his alleged accomplice has been tracked down and charged.

A 43-year-old man was shot dead at the front of a home in Kendall on Wednesday evening, sparking a police manhunt.

A group of men were seen driving away from the home after the shooting.

Police set up a checkpoint at Nabiac along the Pacific Highway, where they arrested a 39-year-old man on Saturday afternoon.

He was taken to Taree Police Station and charged with accessory after the fact to murder, concealing a serious indictable offence and driving a motor vehicle while disqualified.

The man will face Port Macquarie Local Court on Sunday.
