Gunman opens fire on north Manchester street - at 11.30 in the morning

A gunman opened fire on a street in north Manchester - at 11.30am.

Police were called to Tideswell Avenue, in Miles Platting, on Sunday morning (November 24).

Firearms officers attended and found shots had been fired through a front window of a house.

The gunman fled before police arrived.

Nobody was hurt.

Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation. Detectives are appealing for witnesses.

The shooting happened a few hundred yards from a nursery.

A police spokesman said: "Shortly after 11.30am on Sunday 24 November 2019 police were called to reports that shots had been fired at a property on Tideswell Street in Miles Platting.

"Firearms officers attended and found that shots had been fired through a house window.

"The offender fled the scene prior to police arrival and no-one was injured.

"A cordon remains in place and enquiries are ongoing. This is believed to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public."
