Gunman opens fire on house in Tameside - a vase was hit, sending shards of glass flying into woman

A woman was injured by shards of flying glass from a vase after a gunman opened fired on a house in Tameside.

Police were scrambled to a property on Marler Road, Hyde, after shots were fired at the front door on Tuesday night.

GMP said the gunman pulled his trigger twice.

A vase was hit, causing shards of glass to fly across the room.

A woman in her 30 suffered a leg injury after she was struck by the glass.

Police remain at the scene (M.E.N.)

Police described the injury as 'minor' and said the woman didn't need hospital treatment.

A police cordon remained in place on Wednesday morning.

The force is treating the incident as isolated. There is not believed to be any threat to the wider community, GMP added in a statement.

Detective Inspector Joseph Harrop of GMP’s Tameside District said: “We understand the concern that an incident like this will cause in the vicinity.

“Thankfully, this incident only resulted in minor injuries, but the consequences could have been far more severe.

“I want to reassure people who live locally that this is being treated as an isolated incident and we have a team of officers working to establish the events before and after the shots were fired.

“If you have any information that can assist us, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
