Gunman opens fire on house in suburbs of Oldham - less than half an hour later, a car was shot at

Detectives are investigating two early hours shootings in the suburbs of Oldham.

The front window of a terraced house on Wellington Road, in Werneth, has been damaged.

While the rear windscreen of a car, parked on Werneth Hill Road, has also been damaged.

Nobody was injured during either incident, which are thought to be linked.

Both shootings happened just 30 minutes apart with the first taking place at the terraced house just before 2am this morning (January 3).

No arrests have been made and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

However Greater Manchester Police say there is no threat to the wider public.

In a statement GMP said: “Shortly before 2am on Friday 3 January, police were called to reports of a firearms discharge on Wellington Road in Oldham.

“Officers attended the scene and found evidence of a firearms discharge and damage to a front window.

“Shortly after 2.30am on the same day, police were called to reports of a firearms discharge on Werneth Hall Road in Oldham where a car was damaged.

“Officers attended and found evidence of a firearms discharge and damage to the rear windscreen.

“Nobody has been reported injured.

“Police are keen to stress that there is believed to be no further threat to the wider public.

“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
