Gunman opens fire in street and shoots out bedroom window

A road has been sealed off after a gunman opened fire and shot out a bedroom window.

A police cordon and officers and forensics experts remain in Huyton this morning after police were called to the shooting around 6pm on Tuesday.

Police swooped on Dinas Lane after the owner of the shot at house returned to the property to discover a bedroom window had been damaged.

Merseyside Police say it is not clear when the shooting took place but it is not thought anyone was in the house at the time.

A police cordon was stretched across the road close to the Tanarama tanning studio this morning - a police car is parked one side and a police van is the other side.

A scientific support van is parked further down the road.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "We are investigating following reports of damage caused to the windows of a house in Huyton.

"We were called at just after 6pm last night, Tuesday 21 January, to reports that the occupier of a house in Dinas Lane had returned to the property and found damage to a bedroom window. Further enquiries revealed the damage was consistent with a firearms discharge."
