Gunman opens fire at Chicago funeral home with up to 16 shot and 'bodies everywhere'

A gunman has reportedly opened fire at a funeral in Chicago with up to 16 people shot and eyewitnesses reporting seeing "bodies lying everywhere".

Residents reported hearing gunshots before seeing victims in the street at in the 1000 block of W. 79th St. outside of a funeral home.

Chicago Police has confirmed multiple people were shot during the ongoing incident on Tuesday evening, local time.

Chicago Fire Department said around a dozen victims were in a critical condition.

Sources have described a planned ambush outside where a memorial service for a murder victim was taking place, reports CBS Chicago.
