Gunman holds up Glasgow William Hill bookies as cops launch manhunt

Police have launched a hunt for a gunman who tried to hold up a bookies in Glasgow.

The attempted robbery at a bookmakers on Crow Road, in the West End of the city, happened at around 7.50pm on Friday, October 9.

A man threatened a member of staff at the William Hill betting shop with what looked like a black handgun, before making off empty handed.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 6 and of medium build.

He is in his 30s and was wearing grey jogging bottoms with a distinctive red long sleeve top, a black snood, black hat and black glasses.

He was also carrying a black drawstring bag.

Constable Stuart Stevens said: “This was a frightening experience for the member of staff, who fortunately was not injured in the incident.

"I’m appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time or was driving, especially in the nearby supermarket, and has dash cam footage to get in touch.”
