Gunman fired at parked vehicle on residential street in Oldham

Police are hunting a gunman who fired at a parked vehicle on a residential street in Oldham.

Officers were scrambled to Laburnum Road, in the Limeside area of the town, following reports of a “firearms discharge” just after 9pm last Thursday night (May 7).

On arrival they discovered that a parked vehicle had been damaged.

Nobody was injured and no arrests have been made, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) say.

Forensics officers were seen gathering evidence at the scene on Thursday.

One neighbour reported hearing ‘five or six gunshots’ during the attack, which police say is an isolated incident.

They told the Manchester Evening News that armed police swooped on the area, adding: “I was sleeping when it happened. It woke me up.

“All I heard was five or six gun shots before dozens of police turned up.”

Images taken at the scene show what appears to be a bullet casing next to a police evidence marker.

A large police cordon remained in place across part of the residential street for some time on Thursday night (May 8).

“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
