Gun-toting Instagrammer confesses to murder of British law student, police claim

A gun-toting Instagrammer has confessed to the murder of a British law student, it has been reported.

Zahid Jadoon told officers that he killed Mayra Zulfiqar, a 24-year-old from Feltham, numerous Pakistani media outlets including SAMAA have reported.

Mayra was found lying dead in a pool of blood in Lahore, Pakistan last month having been shot in the neck and shoulder.

Jadoon's was one of the two men publicly named as being investigated by police prior to his reported confession, which will have to be made in front of a magistrate or judge if it is to be legally binding.

The 26-year-old, who is from a wealthy Pakistani family, has been pictured posing with pistols and assault rifles.

Police Superintendent Shoaib Khurram Janbaz told The Sun : “The main suspect has confessed to his crime.

“The case is now solved and we move on to ensure punishment for the culprit.”

Mayra is believed to have been shot and strangled in her rented home in Lahore.

It is thought that she extended her stay in Pakistan after the country was placed on the red list, having travelled there initially for a wedding.

Days before she was murdered she told police that Jadoon allegedly abducted her at gunpoint and threatened to kill her.

Police said Jadoon flew into a rage after she refused his marriage proposal.

The law graduate studied at the University of West London and was pursuing a legal career.

A First Information report - a document submitted to police by the victim of a crime or their family - revealed she had “received several threats” before her death.

In the report Mayra’s uncle Mohammed Nazeer named Saad Butt, a 28-year-old thought to have been at the wedding with the Brit, as another suspect.

Jadoon initially claimed he had an alibi and was in Islamabad at the time of the murder and Saad said he was at home in Lahore.
