A gun, multiple blades and suspected class A drugs worth £150,000 have been seized during police raids in Stockport.

Two properties were stormed by officers at 6.30am on Thursday (February 18).

A man, 23, and woman 19, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and ammunition; and possession of class A and B drugs.

They both remain in custody.

Police said that during searches, a firearm was recovered, as well as a suspected Class A drugs worth £150,000 and blades including machetes, a sword and hunting knives.

The operation was part of an investigation into drug dealing in Stockport.

Inspector Ian Ashenden of GMP’s Stockport Division, said: “Today’s result is another brilliant team effort in identifying and tackling the distribution of drugs across Stockport and the wider Greater Manchester area.

“Our officers were also able to identify and remove a potentially lethal weapon from our streets and this is yet another positive step forward in our commitment to ensuring our community is kept safe.

“An inordinate amount of work goes on behind the scenes to disrupt and dismantle this type of activity and our investigations will continue. Officers often rely, on part, on the intelligence received from members of the public so we would urge anyone with any information or concerns to get in contact with the police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 9829, quoting log number 372 of 18/02/21; or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 11.
