Gunshots fired through the door and window of a house in Harpurhey

Gun shots were fired at a house in Harpurhey.

Police were alerted to reports of a shooting on Hanslope Walk at around 10.10pm on Tuesday, January 7.

There was nobody inside the house at the time.

This morning a property on the street can be seen with a boarded up window and door.

Witnesses said shots were fired at the kitchen window.

One neighbour said: "It's very quiet, I've never known there to be any gun crime here.

"But last night when I heard that bang I thought it was fireworks. I looked out of my window and saw seven police cars.

"There has never been any problems and I've been here for 17 years, it is shocking."

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: "We were called at around 10.10pm on Tuesday, January 7.

"Police were called to reports of a fire arms discharge on Hanslope Walk, in Harpurhey.

"There was nobody in the property."

A statement from Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 10.10pm on Tuesday, January 7,  2020 police were called to a report of a firearms discharge on Hanslope Walk in Harpurhey.

"A shotgun had been fired at the window of a property on Hanslope Walk.

"Police searched the house and found that no one was in the property.

"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
