Gun-shaped toilet-roll holder found in bag at airport

The toilet paper dispenser was confiscated at a security checkpoint at Newark Liberty International Airport ( AP )

A passenger had a "crappy day" when he was caught short with a gun-shaped toilet roll holder in his luggage by staff at a New York airport.

As he tried to take the novelty household accessory through security at Newark international, an alarm was triggered.

Spotting the object's disturbing profile when the carry-on bag went through the checkpoint x-ray machine, officers began to search it.

They found the realistic replica gun that had been adapted to hold toilet rolls.

“This most unusual revolver was not designed to spin bullets, it was designed to spin toilet paper,” joked the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

The TSA said in a statement that the passenger “crappy day” after they confiscated the offending article.

“He didn’t watch his ‘Pees and Qs’ and instead of rolling through the security process, this cowboy got stopped up,” it added, before concluding: “We needed to get to the bottom of it.”

Replica guns are not allowed on an aircraft unless they are in a checked bag.

The passenger surrendered the toilet roll holder to security before continuing with his journey.
