Gun scare in Larkhall as police rush to shots fired SOS

Panic struck a Larkhall street on Sunday as residents made reports of gunshots being fired in the area.

Police rushed to the scene at Bogside Road, where it was claimed a firearm had been discharged outside a property.

A frantic search of nearby streets was carried out, with officers scouring the area for the reported weapon.

The force confirmed to Lanarkshire Live that no firearm was found, despite their extensive probe.

A 43-year-old man was arrested in connection with a disturbance, however he was later released without charge, and police confirmed there have been no arrests made in connection with a firearm offence.

Residents in Larkhall grew concerned as the police presence was understood to have increased to surrounding areas including neighbourhoods on the opposite side of the M74.

One local said cops closed off a part of Mason Street while they investigated the incident.
