A gun was fired in a residential street in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Nottinghamshire Police are working to establish what has happened after they received a report of a firearm being discharged at 8.30pm in Aspley Road.

The incident happened on Friday, February 7.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

No arrests have been made.

Detective Inspector Kylie Westlake, who is investigating the incident, said: "I understand that it is concerning for local people to hear about an incident of this nature, and I would like to reassure the public that we are investigating this report thoroughly.

"A team of officers are working to understand what has happened and the early indications are that this was an isolated incident without risk to the wider public.

"I would encourage anyone who saw or heard anything in the area to come forward and help us with our investigation.

"There will be an increased police presence in the area while we conduct our enquiries and any concerned residents should speak to one of our officers."
