Gun fired during armed robbery at convenience store in Cheadle Hulme

A gun was fired after a gang of robbers burst into a convenience store.

Detectives have launched an urgent investigation but thankfully, Greater Manchester Police have confirmed no one was hurt during the incident in Cheadle Hulme.

Images from the scene on Worcester Road on Sunday night show the store sealed off by police tape.

Two evidence markers were positioned on the ground outside as forensic investigators in white suits assessed the scene.

GMP said officers were called at 5.40pm on Sunday to reports of an attempted robbery.

The force said a group of men entered the store and a firearm was subsequently discharged.

No further details have been revealed and it's not known how many men were involved or how many shots were fired.

No arrests have been made, it's understood.

The men are said to have run away from the scene in the aftermath.

GMP has now issued an appeal for witnesses.

In a statement, the force said: "Officers were called around 5.40pm on Sunday June 20 to a report of an attempted robbery at a business premises on Worcester Road, Cheadle Hulme.

"Officers attended and enquiries established a group of males had entered the store and a firearm was subsequently discharged.

"The males fled the scene.

"Thankfully no one was injured. Enquiries are ongoing."

The force appealed for anyone with information to contact 0161 856 9923 quoting incident 2114 of 20/06/21.
