Gulf Group earns water footprint certificates

Tanon Tantisunthorn, chief corporate affairs officer, Gulf Energy Development Plc.

Gulf Group, Thailand's energy development company, earned four 'Water Footprint of Products' (WFP) certificates, highlighting the company's commitment to excellence in sustainable water resources management as per international standards.

Gulf's GBP and GBL in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Gulf's GNC in Prachinburi, and Gulf's GNLL 2 in Rayong are the four plants that received the certification at the Eco-Innovation Forum 2021.

The event was hosted virtually by the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, the Ministry of Industry, and the Water and Environment Institute for Sustainability.

Gulf conducts water footprint assessments on all its power plants that have been in operation for at least one year.

It also shows the sustainable use of water at various stages of electricity production, which lowers production costs and greenhouse gas emissions directly and indirectly, in a move towards a low-carbon society. Since 2018, 23 Gulf-owned and operated plants have gained WFP certification.
