NAVSARI: Two theft suspects were found hanging inside the lock-up of a police station in Gujarat's Navsari district on Wednesday, police said. Sunil Pawar and Ravi Jadav, both aged 19, allegedly committed suicide in the early hours between 5am and 8am by hanging themselves using a wire in the lock-up of Chikhli police station, a senior police official said.
On learning about the incident, Navsari superintendent of police Rishikesh Upadhyay and other senior officials rushed to the spot.
The duo, both residents of Waghai taluka of neighbouring Dang district, were brought to the police station for questioning in a theft case on Tuesday, deputy superintendent of police S G Rana said.
"Between 5am and 8am, the theft suspects committed suicide by hanging themselves using a wire due to some unknown reasons. A case of accidental death has been registered and further investigation is on," said Rana, who is probing the case.
