SURAT: Three out of four siblings died when the roof of their old house collapsed in Bharuch town’s Kubhaliya Dholav area early on Monday.
The incident happened at around 7:45 am when the roof made from wooden beams and mud blocks crumbled. Four family members including three sisters and their mother were trapped under the debris. Hearing the loud noise neighbours rushed to their help and informed the fire brigade.
Fire officer Chirag Gadhvi and his team rushed to the spot and started rescue work.
During the rescue, the bodies of three siblings - Anjana (22), Prince (17) and Nisha Gujjar (14) were found. The eldest sibling Seema alias Gayatri was taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to sources, their mother Varsha (50) had left for work a few minutes before the incident and the children were sleeping on the first floor.
During primary investigation, police came to know that Varsha’s husband Kishore died around eight years back. She lives in a rented house and works as a sweeper with the local municipality
