AHMEDABAD: A man was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a 30-year-old married woman from in Ahmedabad.
The Satellite police registered a case of rape and house trespass against the accused Bhavin Bhavsar. A medical examination of the victim and accused will be conducted.
According to the complainant, she met Bhavsar on social media. "The two exchanged phone numbers and began talking to each other. They would frequently meet each other too," the complaint stated.
Satellite Inspector D B Maheta said, "The victim and the accused knew each other for nearly three years. However, last week, he visited her house a couple of times and raped her. Meanwhile, the accused got engaged and the woman lodged a complaint based on which he was arrested," said Maheta.
The complainant stated, "Bhavin threatened to post our photographs on social media and show them to my husband if I did not do as he said. So, I succumbed to his demands."
On Friday, the woman informed her family members and husband that Bhavin had raped her at their house. She said, "My family asked me to call Bhavin home. When he arrived, they informed the police control room and got him arrested."
The cops said that Bhavin had got engaged recently and was about to be married soon.
