AHMEDABAD: A review meeting on the use of digital technology in the field of natural farming and agriculture in the country was held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union home minister Amit Shah.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel participated through video conference from Gandhinagar in this review meeting held in the presence of Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Chemical Fertilizers and Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Chief Ministers of various states of the country including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Uttarakhand, Tripura also joined this meeting through virtual medium.
Patel said that Gujarat has taken up the call for back-to-basics to boost the natural farming in the country. It is estimated that 2.50 lakh farmers are engaged in natural farming in more than 3 lakh acres of land in the state.
Giving the role of digital technology in agriculture and natural farming in Gujarat, the Chief Minister said that Governor Acharya Devvrat has been continuously guiding for the spread of natural farming in Gujarat.
Four and a half lakh farmers of 13-thousand-gram panchayats of the state have been given training in natural farming. Not only this, but the tribal district Dang has also been declared a 100 percent natural farming district.
The state government has taken the initiative to develop a co-operative model under the leadership of the country's first co-operation minister Amit Shah for the sale of natural farm produce products.
The Chief Minister also gave the role that the state government is moving forward with the goal of maximum use of digital technology in the agriculture sector. In this context, he said that 93 percent of land seeding operations have been completed with the data of farmers in the state.
