GANDHINAGAR: State tourism and pilgrimage development minister Purnesh Modi has written to the Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board, issuing guidelines for ensuring sanctity, safety, and cleanliness at religious and pilgrimage places, especially during festivals.
The minister has said in the letter that authorities managing religious places must ensure adequate steps to prevent stampedes.
The letter dated October 27 asked the board to ensure that cleanliness is maintained at all pilgrimage places and temples. It has also been asked to ensure that drinking water is available. The minister said that all slaughterhouses and non-vegetarian food carts must be removed from the vicinity of such sites according to the provisions of law and prohibition should be strictly implemented.
The letter has asked the board to ensure that begging does not take place at these places.
