Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel approves water supply schemes worth Rs 40 crore in 5 municipalities

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday sanctioned various water supply schemes worth Rs 40.44 crore in five municipalities under Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana to ease availability of drinking water.

Patel has allotted Rs 7.58 crore to Patdi Municipality of Surendranagar district, Rs 8.37 crore to Dhrol Municipality of Jamnagar and Rs 11.58 crore to Botad for this purpose.

Rs 2.18 crore has been allotted to Chhotaudepur Municipality and Rs 10.56 crore has been allotted to Santrampur Municipality.

The state urban development department had made these proposals keeping in view the estimates of water needs of the population in these municipalities in 2051-52.

The existing 250 mm Dia pipeline in Dhrol municipality which has been in existence for more than 30 years will be replaced at a cost of Rs 8.37 crore.

He has sanctioned an amount of Rs 11.58 crore for drinking water networks in developed areas in three new zones in Botad Municipality.

The chief minister has given in-principle approval to allot Rs 2.18 crore and Rs 10.56 crore respectively to provide adequate pressure water to all areas on a daily basis in the tribal area of Chhota Udepur as well as to plan for replacement of machinery at all pumping stations in Santrampur.
