GANDHINAGAR: Amidst regular interval speculations over change of leadership in the Gujarat government, state BJP president CR Paatil said that the party will contest 2022 assembly elections under chief minister Vijay Rupani and deputy CM Nitin Patel’s leadership only.
The statement was made after the flag hosting ceremony at BJP headquarter Kamalam on Sunday.
When asked about the speculations over change in leadership in state government and removing Vijay Rupani and Nitin Patel, he said, “Both(Rupani and Patel) are working towards the growth of Gujarat with full force and we will contest the upcoming 2022 elections under their leadership only."
However, despite Paatil made a statement that BJP will contest next assembly elections under Rupani’s leadership only, speculations are not ending in political circles. People refer to Rupani’s own statements as then Gujarat BJP president when media used to ask about Anandiben Patel’s leadership.
On several occasions, Rupani had on camera said that Anandiben Patel will continue as CM and he is not opting for CM post.
