Gujarat ATS arrests two more for Morbi drug haul

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat Anti-terrorism squad (ATS) probing into one of the biggest drug seizures of Gujarat, which has touched Rs 730 crore till now, arrested two more accused in connection with the case.

The ATS probing into the Morbi drug seizure case on Saturday seized 650 gram heroin of around Rs 3.50 crore from the house of an accused and Nigerian citizen Michael Ugochuko in the Nilothi area of New Delhi.

During the questioning of Ugochuko, it was revealed that he used to bring the drugs from the aides of a wanted accused Isa Rav.

Many times, the drug consignments were delivered to Ugochuko by a man from Pune named Sarjerao Keshavrao Garaad, 56, who used to deliver the drugs either in train or bus.

After Garaad delivered the drugs, Ugochsuko would send Isa Rav the payment through Angadia firms.

The ATS arrested Garaad from his house on Sunday.

Apart from Garaad, the Gujarat ATS also nabbed another accused Jabiyar alias Javed Sodha, 32, a resident of Sayana village in Jamnagar, who had allegedly gone to mid-sea in a boat with other accused to receive the drug consignment, said the agency officers.

Both the accused were produced before a local court and sent to 12-day remand.

The case come into the light when the Gujarat ATS arrested the main accused Isa Rav’s brother Mukhtar Hussein from Jamnagar, Ghulam Bhagad from Salaya in Devbhoomi-Dwarka, and Shamshuddin Saiyyed from Morbi on November 14 for possessing a part of the consignment which was nearly 120kg worth Rs 600 cr.

Gujarat ATS has so far arrested 13 accused in the case.
