RAJKOT: Four people, including a woman, were arrested for allegedly trying to extort Rs 10 lakh from a man by threatening to lodge a complaint of rape against his son, in Junagadh. The police said the victim Parshottam Vaghasiya approached them after he got a call demanding the cash.
A team of Junagadh police laid a trap and as per the plan, Vaghasiya called the accused to Vadla crossing in the city. Four persons came in a car bringing along his son Manish and police nabbed them on the spot.
Those arrested were Bhavesh Das, Paresh Devmurari, Dinesh Thesiya and Kiran Khatadiya.
Manish had got in touch with Kiran and she called him to meet her on Saturday. When Manish went there, the accused threatened to lodge a complaint of rape against him. TNN
