Guinness Storehouse reopening sees iconic gates painted for the first time in history

Dublin's Guinness Storehouse has finally reopened its doors to the public for the first time in over six months.

The grand reopening saw the iconic Guinness Gates on Market Street painted for the very first time in their history by acclaimed Dublin-based artist Aches.

“TOGETHER STRONGER” takes inspiration from an old Irish proverb - “Ní neart go cur le chéile” – there is no strength without unity.

A brand new series called Canvas D8 has been launched as a space for culture to thrive in the heart of the capital's exciting Liberties district.

This includes a new streetscape art gallery surrounding the Home of Guinness, a seven-storey high immersive light sculpture, and a range of music and food events to be announced during the summer.

Aches said: “I think it’s important for the Guinness Storehouse and other spaces like it to open its doors to young artists, because we’re so limited in terms of space to show our work in Dublin. It’s been so exciting for me to be involved in Canvas D8 and I’m super proud to be the first artist ever given the chance to paint the Guinness Gates.”
