Guinness reviewer heads to Conor McGregor's pub and shares his view on quality of new pint

Visitors to Conor McGregor's Dublin pub have been leaving rave reviews since the bar opened in July.

The Black Forge Inn has welcomed the UFC star's family and friends as well as thousands of satisfied customers following its multi-million euro facelift.

Fans of the sportsman will be aware that his Proper 12 whiskey plays a prominent role in the pub, with "world-class" cocktails among the tipples on offer.

But one well-known reviewer turned his attention to a different drink being sold in the Drimnagh bar, the Black Forge stout.

The Guinness Guru, who regularly reviews pints of the black stuff, went to the pub to try out McGregor's new stout.

In a video posted about his experience, he gave his assessment of the quality of the drink and what marks he would give it out of ten.

"I went to Conor McGregor's new pub the Black Forge Inn to try out his brand new stout, Black Forge Stout," he said.

"They were very honest, they said it tastes nothing like stout, but you should get coffee, chocolate and vanilla [notes]. Also people have said it takes like Beamish."

He then took a sip of the pint, predicting that he probably wouldn't like it, but he actually found it quite "decent".

His initial reaction was that it's better than Island's Edge, a recently released stout produced by Heineken.

"It's alright, it tastes like Guinness but much more of a roasted flavour, but it's decent," the Guinness Guru said on TikTok.

"It's creamy, there's some 'shtick' on it as well, it's not exactly my cup of tea but I'm just so used to drinking Guinness.

"I don't know, it feels weird, I can't give it a Guinness score.

"The likelihood to drink it again out of ten is 6.9 or 7."

The pint cost around €4.70, according to the reviewer.

It comes as McGregor is reported to be "eyeing up" a new location in Dublin as part of a move towards expanding his pub empire.

Upscale Dun Laoghaire is the next area on the UFC star's expansion horizon, according to The Currency news outlet.

The site reports that McGregor "is acquiring one of Dun Laoghaire’s most popular bars", with negotiations to purchase the property said to be at an "advanced" stage.

O’Neill’s, located at the centre of the leafy suburb, is named as the pub being sought.

The bar went on sale in August for €800,000 and has remained on the market since.
