Rafa Benitez is yet to receive any approach from Newcastle United's would-be owners - despite intense speculation he is the choice of Amanda Staveley's potential new look board.
With the takeover now solely in the hands of the Premier League - who are running through rigorous checks - there is a suggestion that Steve Bruce would at least oversee the last nine games of the season.
However, Spanish journalist and Sky Sports' former La Liga specialist Guillem Balague has shared his thoughts during a Youtube Q and A.
He said: "Newcastle again? Why not?
"Under new stewardship but I believe right now that he hasn't heard anything at all.
"So that possibility does not seem to be imminent.
"By why not, they loved him there and he loved Newcastle."
Balague has also offered his views on Newcastle's spending power should the Saudi Arabia-backed takeover go through.
He said: “There are many doubts about the ownership, there are doubts about the money that is going to be available.
"If there is money available, Newcastle will be at the forefront of many people’s thoughts because I think the value of the players is going to diminish and not everybody is going to have money available to buy players.
"The problem, of course, is that they will have to get the finances right, and try to maximise the potential of financial fair play.
"That means it’ll require a while before Newcastle can compete for the biggest players, if they ever, if they ever will do that."
