The Sun is shaking up its political team, bringing in Guido Fawkes’ Harry Cole as Westminster correspondent and promoting Sun political correspondent Craig Woodhouse to chief political correspondent.

Woodhouse is replacing Kevin Scofield, who is leaving to become editor of PoliticsHome after five years at the paper.

Sun politics editor Tom Newton Dunn announced the changes on Twitter.

Cole was Westminster bureau chief at Guido, and effectively second in command to founder Paul Staines. He was already writing the Guido Fawkes column in the Sun and was contributing editor at the Spectator, a role he is giving up.

“Paul Staines is an evil genius and I want to thank him for the best possible first job in journalism,” said Cole.

“It’s been a hell of a ride being Guido, but now it’s time to blow things up under my own name and I can think of no better platform from which to do so than as Westminster correspondent for the Sun.”
